Dear Mr. Newman:
I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for the Quantum Pure Aire products and to verify to you that your products work as claimed.
My partner and I own a wooden 1972 Grand Banks Classic; in fact, it is the last wooden 42 foot Classic that Grand Banks built. Because of our love for this boat, we keep it in a covered slip and, with much work; attempt to keep it in pristine condition. However, we had never been able to overcome the musty smell that seemed to permeate the boat. A thorough cleaning of the bilge and a replacement of the holding tank did not reduce the odor. When you entered the cabin after it had been closed for a week, the musty odor was very noticeable and would make you catch your breath. Clothing stored in the boat became almost unwearable because of the smell. Our wives tried all types of room deodorants and plug-in deodorizers, but nothing worked.
We had almost accepted the odor as the price of owning an older wooden boat, until we read an article by Bill Parlatore, editor in chief of Passage Maker magazine. In the article he wrote about a new product from Quantum Pure Aire Corporation he had found that removed the musty odor from his boat. We immediately ordered a Bilge Buster from Quantum Pure Aire and installed it in the engine room bilge area. We noticed immediate improvement. The odor was gone from the engine room but still lingered in a much lesser degree in the salon and staterooms.
This past month we ordered a Cabin Aire model from you in an attempt to get the boat totally free from odor. We installed it in the main salon on 15 June and turned it on. When we returned two weeks later, eureka, the odor was gone from the boat! Our clothing had a fresh outdoors smell as if it had been hung out in the breeze. The Cabin Aire, along with the Bilge Buster, had the boat completely odorless even after being closed up for two weeks in a hot North Carolina summer.
I am completely sold on your air treatment systems and would strongly recommend it to any other interested boaters or others who might have a pervasive odor problem in their home or work place. I also want to thank you for your prompt and courteous response to our questions. Your answers and suggestions were well thought-out and always stressed what was best for our boat and us, and not to just try to sell your company’s product.
